Hamas's armed wing confirmed the death of its longtime spokesperson, Abu Obeida, who was reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike in August. Israel had previously announced his death in late August. Abu Obeida, whose real name was Hudhayfa Samir al-Kahlout, was a prominent, masked figurehead for Hamas's military statements. Hamas also confirmed the death of Gaza chief Mohammed Sinwar. The announcements coincide with U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meeting to discuss a Gaza ceasefire.
