The Rajasthan government has approved amendments to scrap the over 30-year-old two-child norm that barred individuals with more than two children from contesting panchayat and urban local body elections. The changes, to be introduced in the current legislative session, reflect declining fertility rates and public demand. Additionally, the state will remove 'leprosy' from disqualifying diseases in municipal elections, complying with a Supreme Court ruling. The Cabinet also approved forming a new Revenue Intelligence and Economic Offences Directorate to address financial crimes.
