The Supreme Court, in a case concerning the Netflix film titled 'Ghooskhor Pandat,' ruled that vilifying or denigrating any community based on religion, caste, language, or region is constitutionally impermissible for both state and non-state actors. The court accepted the filmmakers' decision to change the title and emphasized fraternity as a foundational constitutional value, highlighting the duty of all citizens to promote harmony and respect across diverse communities. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan underscored that freedom of speech is subject to reasonable restrictions to uphold fraternity and unity.
