Petrol pumps across Manipur's valley areas have shut indefinitely starting Saturday, following a bomb attack on a fuel station in Bishnupur district. The Manipur Petroleum Dealers Fraternity (MPDF) cited ongoing security threats and extortion concerns, demanding enhanced protection for dealers and staff, and compensation for damages and potential injuries or fatalities. The indefinite strike, called after a previous incident in December, has led to fuel shortages and black marketing, with petrol reportedly sold at inflated prices. The MPDF seeks government accountability for future incidents.
