Since their 1966 reorganization, Punjab and Haryana have shown distinct development paths. While Haryana has led in economic growth and per capita income since 2008-09, Punjab has historically excelled in economic and regional equity, and social development. Haryana's economy, now significantly larger and growing faster, benefits from factors like NCR inclusion. Punjab, though initially wealthier, now lags in key economic indicators, suggesting a need for both states to learn from each other's strengths.
