
Following the death of Assam singer Zubeen Garg, hundreds protested in Dispur demanding a fast-track court and the arrest of all accused, including NRIs allegedly present at the scene. The state government, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, said it will consult Garg's family on establishing a fast-track court. Garg's family and the public prosecutor have expressed concerns over delays and repeated adjournments in the trial, while the accused remain in jail pending proceedings.
