A technical sub-committee of experts, formed by the Centre on Supreme Court orders, deliberated on defining the Aravalli hills. The sub-committee, comprising officials from Forest Survey of India, Geological Survey of India, and Survey of India, concluded that more studies are needed to establish a reliable method for defining the hills. This finding was to be submitted to a larger panel led by the Union Environment Secretary, which was constituted following the Supreme Court's stay on its Aravalli order and call for domain experts.
