Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi highlighted the killing of Anjel Chakma in Dehradun as an instance of deep-rooted prejudice against North East people. Chakma, a 24-year-old from Tripura, was reportedly racially abused and attacked after asserting his Indian identity. Gogoi criticized the delay in FIR registration and called for government action to address societal prejudice and promote awareness of North East culture, while noting that four arrests have been made but the main accused is still at large.
