Election officials visited Nobel laureate Amartya Sen's ancestral home in Bolpur, West Bengal, to collect documents including his Aadhaar card, voter ID, his late mother's death certificate, and a letter authorizing his cousin to attend a hearing on his behalf. This was part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls after a discrepancy was found in Sen's enumeration form linking him to his mother despite a small age difference. Sen, currently a Harvard professor in the US, was issued a notice for a hearing on January 16 at his Santiniketan residence.
