Assam CM Announces NDA Seat-Sharing Talks and BJP Candidate Plans for 2026 Polls

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) aims to finalise seat-sharing arrangements for the 2026 Assembly elections by mid-March. The BJP is reportedly strong in 103 constituencies and plans to field around 40 new candidates. Talks with allies like the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland regional parties are ongoing, with some uncertainty about the United People's Party Liberal's alliance status. The government has requested early elections before Bohag Bihu due to logistical concerns.
