Nobel laureate economist Michael Kremer highlighted India's potential to transform development by adopting evidence-based policies and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in governance. Speaking at a seminar in Chandigarh, he emphasized AI's role in agriculture, such as advanced weather forecasting that helped farmers adjust practices and increase incomes. Kremer also noted AI applications in road safety through automated driver testing and enforcement, which improved transparency and reduced unsafe driving. He advocated treating public programs as experiments to be tested and refined before scaling.
