A report by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) indicates a three-fold increase in press freedom violations in Nepal during 2025, with 139 cases recorded. This surge affected 118 journalists and 31 media houses, and tragically, two journalists died in the line of duty. The FNJ cited lawlessness, financial instability in media, and physical threats as contributing factors, also criticizing past government actions like social media bans. Significant financial losses were reported by media houses and journalists.
