BMC Ward Committee Chairperson Elections Scheduled Amid Contested and Unopposed Posts

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will hold elections for chairpersons of its 17 ward committees on March 6 and 9. The ruling Mahayuti alliance, which won 118 of 227 seats, is expected to secure most chairperson posts, with nine committees uncontested in their favor. Some committees, including those covering Bhandup S and Mulund T wards, face tied contests between Mahayuti and opposition members, leading to chairperson selection by lottery. Ward committees oversee local civic works and comprise elected corporators from respective wards.
