
The Meghalaya Cabinet approved a Bill to upgrade the Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) in Shillong into a state university, enabling it to award degrees to public health graduates and scholars. Chaired by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, the move aims to enhance academic autonomy and establish the institute as a center for public health research and capacity building in the northeast. The cabinet also approved infrastructure expansion at Eco Resort, Nongkhlaw, and a policy promoting anganwadi workers to supervisors to strengthen child development services.
