Uttar Pradesh is reducing the cost of smart prepaid electricity meter connections by 50%, effective January 1, 2026. New single-phase connections will cost Rs 2,800, down from Rs 6,000, and three-phase connections will be Rs 4,100, reduced from over Rs 11,300. Fixed charges for new connections up to 300 meters and 150 kilowatts have also been lowered. These changes aim to provide significant relief to electricity consumers across the state.
