Chandigarh's Municipal Corporation (MC) has directed the police to register cases against illegal vendors occupying footpaths and public passages, citing disruptions to pedestrian movement and public order. Despite previous enforcement actions, vendors continue unauthorized vending, sometimes obstructing officials. The MC aims to address this by invoking the Bhartaiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and is simultaneously improving infrastructure in designated vending zones to support registered vendors.
