
During Operation Sindoor in May 2025, Pakistan reportedly conducted extensive cyber and information warfare against India, including around 1.5 million cyberattacks and widespread dissemination of AI-generated fake content and deepfake videos. Major General Sandeep Sharda highlighted coordinated efforts involving doctored media and social media manipulation. A Stockholm International Peace Research Institute report warned that such AI-driven disinformation risked escalating the conflict, potentially to nuclear confrontation. India’s Press Information Bureau also flagged a deepfake video falsely attributed to Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi.
