Delhi Government Introduces Monthly Payment Model for Smart LED Streetlight Upgrade

The Delhi government, led by Rekha Gupta, plans to upgrade around 100,000 streetlights on Public Works Department roads to energy-efficient smart LEDs through a Rs 400 crore project. Under a new financing model, contractors will be paid monthly installments only after ensuring the lights operate at the required 40 lux brightness, shifting responsibility for maintenance and performance to them. The system will include centralized real-time monitoring and a public dashboard for reporting faults, with repairs mandated within 24 hours.
