New Guwahati and Guwahati Central Assembly Constituencies Formed Ahead of 2026 Elections

The Guwahati region's assembly constituencies were reorganized in 2023, replacing the former Gauhati East and Gauhati West seats with New Guwahati and Guwahati Central constituencies. In the 2021 Assam Assembly Elections, BJP's Siddhartha Bhattacharya won New Guwahati by 84,100 votes, while AGP's Ramendra Narayan Kalita secured Guwahati Central by 78,449 votes. Both constituencies fall under the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat, won in 2024 by BJP's Bijuli Medhi. These constituencies are general seats with diverse voter demographics and multiple major parties contesting.
