Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has stated that the new Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) will impose an additional annual expenditure of ₹3,000-4,000 crore on the state. This is due to a new 60:40 funding ratio, with the Centre funding 60% and the state 40%, replacing the previous MGNREGA where the Centre funded the entire cost. Siddaramaiah criticized the name change, alleging it aims to erase Mahatma Gandhi's legacy and burden states financially without consultation. The Congress plans protests against this move.
