Assam Announces Rs 9,000 Payment to 40 Lakh Women Beneficiaries on Women's Day

On International Women's Day, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a record single-day direct benefit transfer of Rs 9,000 each to nearly 40 lakh women beneficiaries under the Orunodoi scheme on March 10, totaling Rs 3,600 crore. The payment covers four months plus a Bihu bonus, aiming to empower women financially ahead of Assembly elections. Beneficiaries are invited to attend local meetings for disbursement. National leaders also highlighted women's contributions and empowerment initiatives across India.
