National Conference Highlights Growth and Development in Cold Water Fisheries in Jammu and Kashmir

The National Conference on Cold Water Fisheries was held in Srinagar, focusing on sustainable development and livelihood enhancement in India's cold-water regions. Jammu and Kashmir showcased significant growth in trout production and infrastructure since 2020, supported by government initiatives including Rs 233 crore under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme and a Rs 100 crore Integrated Aqua Park Project. The conference, guided by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh and attended by key regional leaders, emphasized job creation, biodiversity conservation, and aquaculture expansion across Himalayan and northeastern states.
