The Indian government has denied social media claims about plans to create a new Union Territory near the Siliguri Corridor by combining districts from Bihar and West Bengal. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) clarified that no such proposal is under consideration and urged the public to verify information from official sources before sharing. The rumors suggested the new territory would include districts like Purnea, Araria, Kishanganj, Katihar, Malda, and Uttar Dinajpur, purportedly to enhance security around the corridor.
