The Ludhiana District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), chaired by Congress MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, unanimously opposed the proposed Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (VB-G RAM G) Bill, 2025. The committee criticized the shift from full central funding under MGNREGA to a 60:40 Centre-state cost-sharing model, citing Punjab's fiscal constraints and potential delays in wage payments. Concerns were raised about provisions like Aadhaar-linked payments and seasonal employment breaks possibly excluding vulnerable rural families and increasing distress migration. The panel urged continuation of MGNREGA with full central support and called for wider consultations.
