The Supreme Court of India has stayed a December 2025 Delhi High Court order that directed the Lokpal to reconsider granting sanction to the CBI to file a chargesheet against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in the alleged cash-for-query case. The case involves allegations that Moitra accepted cash and gifts in exchange for raising parliamentary questions. The Supreme Court issued notices to Moitra, the CBI, and BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, and agreed to examine the legal provisions under Section 20 of the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013, concerning sanction procedures. The investigation against Moitra is currently on hold pending the court's clarification.
