Sri Lanka arrested former intelligence chief Suresh Sallay on February 25, 2026, in connection with the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings that killed around 270 people, including 11 Indians. Sallay, a retired Major General, led the State Intelligence Service before 2015 and was serving abroad during the attacks. Investigations reopened in late 2024 cited alleged political interference and ignored intelligence warnings, including from India. An official police statement on the arrest is pending.
