Indian Army Approves Integrated Battle Groups and Plans Data-Driven Networking Boost

The Indian Army has received government approval to establish Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs) as part of its restructuring to enhance multi-domain combat capabilities, with the first IBG planned under the China-focused 17 Mountain Strike Corps. These agile units, larger than brigades but smaller than divisions, will integrate various arms for swift operations. Additionally, the Army Chief announced a two-year plan (2026-2027) to strengthen networking and data-driven operations, aiming to improve connectivity and decision-making in future multi-domain warfare as part of a broader decade-long transformation.
