The student-led National Citizen Party (NCP) in Bangladesh is experiencing an internal rift over a proposed alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami ahead of the February elections. Thirty NCP leaders have opposed the plan via a joint letter, citing ideological conflicts and Jamaat's controversial history, with two senior members resigning. The NCP, an offshoot of Students Against Discrimination, emerged after last year's July Uprising. Opponents argue the alliance undermines the NCP's credibility and public trust.
