The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has quashed the appointment of Jaiteerth Joshi as the Director General of BrahMos, citing manifest arbitrariness and directing the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and DRDO to reconsider the claim of applicant Naidu. The tribunal emphasized that seniority, hard work, and integrity should not be rendered insignificant, and selection cannot be arbitrary even if eligibility criteria are met. Sources within the MoD questioned the necessity of seniority for the role, suggesting the order might not set a precedent for future appointments.
