In the 2026 Maharashtra municipal elections, the BJP-led NDA maintained dominance, while the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Asaduddin Owaisi, significantly expanded its presence, winning around 114 seats across 12-13 municipal corporations. AIMIM made notable gains in urban centers like Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Malegaon, Nanded, and Mumbai, emerging as a key player and second-largest party in some areas. The ISLAM Party also made a strong debut in Malegaon, winning 35 seats and challenging traditional parties. AIMIM's success is attributed to focused campaigning, including door-to-door outreach, and capitalizing on divisions among opposition parties.
