Ministry of Home Affairs Allocates 50 CAPF Companies to Tamil Nadu Ahead of 2026 Elections

The Ministry of Home Affairs has allocated an initial 50 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) to Tamil Nadu as a security measure ahead of the 2026 state assembly elections. Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik stated these forces will be inducted on March 10, 2026, to assist with area domination and confidence-building. The elections, expected in April 2026, will elect all 234 members of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and also involve neighbouring Puducherry.
