
Andhra Pradesh has approved a policy allowing postgraduate Ayurvedic doctors to perform 58 select surgical procedures, including general surgery, ENT, and ophthalmology. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) strongly opposes this, citing concerns about patient safety, training standards, and legal validity, especially as the matter is before the Supreme Court. The state government asserts compliance with national regulations, while the IMA deems the move unscientific and potentially risky.
