Bangladesh Islami Andolan Leaves Jamaat-e-Islami Alliance Ahead of Elections

Bangladesh Islami Andolan has exited the Jamaat-e-Islami-led grand alliance ahead of general elections, citing unfair seat allocations and ideological differences. Islami Andolan plans to contest 268 of 300 seats independently, while supporting eligible candidates elsewhere. The alliance had allocated 179 seats to Jamaat and 30 to the National Citizen Party, leaving 47 for Islami Andolan, which boycotted the meeting. Jamaat's cooperation with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its stance on governance under existing laws raised concerns within Islami Andolan about the alliance's direction and election legitimacy.
