Dhaka police claim two primary suspects in the murder of political activist Sharif Osman Hadi, Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Sheikh, fled to India via the Haluaghat border in Meghalaya with local assistance. They reportedly crossed into India, were met by an individual named Purti, and driven to Tura by a taxi driver named Sami. Bangladesh is seeking their extradition. However, Meghalaya Police and the BSF have denied any evidence of the suspects crossing the border or being apprehended in India, calling the claims unfounded.
