Following a deadly nightclub fire in Goa, Mumbai's civic body, the BMC, has intensified fire safety inspections across the city. As of December 23, inspections of 1221 establishments, including pubs, hotels, and malls, revealed 79 non-compliant establishments, with 59 facing action and 20 receiving notices. The National Sports Club of India (NSCI) in Worli was among those issued a notice for multiple fire safety lapses, including non-functional fire pumps and unsafe storage, and has been given 30 days to rectify the issues.
