Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that registering an FIR regarding missing Guru Granth Sahib saroops is not interference in Sikh matters, urging the SGPC to cooperate with the investigation. This follows a directive from Sikh temporal seats advising the government against meddling in Sikh affairs. The FIR, filed against 16 individuals including a former SGPC chief secretary, concerns the disappearance of 328 saroops in 2020. The SGPC, however, views the FIR as a challenge to Akal Takht and an unwarranted interference in its administrative rights.
