Delhi NCR Allows Temporary Use of Alternative Fuels Amid Natural Gas Supply Restrictions

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has permitted industries, hotels, restaurants, and other enterprises in Delhi and the NCR to temporarily use alternative fuels such as high-speed diesel, biomass, and refuse-derived fuel pellets instead of natural gas for one month amid global energy supply disruptions. If these alternatives are limited, coal and kerosene may also be used. Concurrently, Indraprastha Gas Limited has capped piped natural gas supply to hospitals at 80% of their average consumption, prompting some healthcare facilities to adopt fuel conservation and alternative cooking methods while ensuring uninterrupted patient care.
