Kerala Governor Highlights Financial Pressures and Development Plans in Assembly Address

Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar opened the 16th session of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly with a policy address highlighting the state's financial pressures due to central government actions. These include reduced funding under the renamed rural employment scheme VB-G RAM G, GST adjustments, borrowing limits, and delayed central scheme payments. Despite these challenges, the state reported 12% growth and emphasized continued social welfare and infrastructure development. The address also called for expert inspection of the Mullaperiyar dam and noted concerns over centralisation and fiscal federalism.
