Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a nationwide campaign starting January 5 to oppose the renaming of the MGNREGA scheme to VB-G RAM G, accusing the BJP of attempting to erase Mahatma Gandhi's legacy. He stated that the Congress party, representing equality and equal opportunities, will fight against this change. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar echoed these sentiments, asserting that Gandhi's legacy cannot be erased and criticizing the new scheme's cost-sharing ratio, which he believes will burden BJP-ruled states.
