India and US Sign Framework to Secure Critical Minerals and Rare Earth Supply Chains
India and the United States signed a bilateral framework on May 26, 2026, to secure the supply, mining, processing, and recycling of critical minerals and rare earth elements. The agreement, signed during the Quad Foreign Ministers' meeting in New Delhi by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, aims to build resilient, diversified supply chains and reduce dependence on China. It supports cooperation on financing, investment, and supply chain management for minerals vital to semiconductors, electric vehicles, clean energy, and defense technologies.
