Thackeray alleges the SEC is altering rules to favor the ruling Mahayuti government in upcoming municipal corporation elections. The SEC maintains that limited personal outreach, with no more than five people and no microphones, is permissible under existing regulations, citing a 2012 order. Thackeray urged his party workers to monitor ruling party candidates for potential vote-buying.
