Maharashtra's tribal development department has mandated that Ashram school teachers with over five years until retirement must pass the Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) by September 2027. This order, in line with a Supreme Court ruling, applies to teachers appointed before the Right to Education Act, 2009. Those who fail to clear the TET within two years risk termination or compulsory retirement, impacting in-service teachers without prior qualification.
