Italian authorities have arrested nine individuals suspected of financing Hamas through charities operating in Italy. Prosecutors in Genoa stated the suspects allegedly diverted approximately 7 million euros, raised for humanitarian purposes over two years, to Hamas-linked entities. Assets exceeding 8 million euros were seized. The investigation, involving Dutch authorities and coordinated by Eurojust, began after flagging suspicious financial transactions. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni commended the operation, which uncovered Hamas financing via 'so-called charity organisations'.
