Indian Railways significantly expanded its network in 2025, reaching remote areas like Mizoram and Kashmir with new bridges and lines, including the world's highest rail bridge on the Chenab River. The year saw the introduction of 15 new Vande Bharat trains, bringing the total to 164, alongside 13 Amrit Bharat trains and two Namo Bharat Rapid Rail services. The ministry also launched 42 projects valued over Rs 25,000 crore and plans to introduce Vande Bharat Sleeper trains soon.
