Foundation Stone Laid for Shastri Market Redevelopment in Chandigarh

Punjab Governor and Chandigarh UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Shastri Market in Sector 22-C, aiming for completion by the end of 2026 at a cost of Rs 6-8 crore. The project includes raising shop levels, increasing roof heights, solar energy integration, installation of 100-150 CCTV cameras, Wi-Fi, water tanks, and smart parking. Shopkeepers will fund the renovation, while the Municipal Corporation will provide firefighting and drainage facilities. Officials and market representatives highlighted the project's significance for the city's development and sustainability.
