
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma laid the foundation stone for the Rs 676 crore Tuirini small hydro power project, a 24 MW facility funded by a New Development Bank loan with 80% cost borne by the Centre and 20% by the state. The government aims to achieve power self-sufficiency, having inaugurated a 10 MW solar plant and constructing a 5 MW one. Additional projects include the 132 MW Tuivai hydro project, the upcoming Tlawng hydro project, and a planned pump storage project near Vankal solar park. Efforts also involve inviting private developers for solar plants and expanding rooftop solar installations.
