A team of super-speciality doctors from Puducherry's Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital has been deputed to Karaikal Government General Hospital starting January 2, 2026, to address concerns about doctor availability during emergencies. The visiting team includes specialists in Paediatric Surgery, Neurology, Cardiology, and Urology. Civic groups, however, continue to demand permanent specialist postings, citing a history of temporary deputations that do not resolve the issue of consistent healthcare access.
