Top Sikh clergy, the five Singh Sahiban, have asked the AAP government to cease interfering in Sikh religious affairs following an FIR registered by Amritsar Police concerning missing sacred saroops. They stated the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is a democratically elected body and the government cannot interfere in internal religious matters. The clergy cited a report suggesting the Akal Takht authority should resolve the issue, not police mechanisms, and highlighted inaction on complaints against hateful propaganda and fake social media accounts targeting Sikhs.
