Mohali Authorities Continue Anti-Encroachment Drive Amid Resident Protests

The Mohali Municipal Corporation, in coordination with GMADA, conducted a two-day anti-encroachment drive targeting unauthorized structures in Phases 3B1, 3B2, and 7. Over 150 houses with illegal extensions were identified, and several sheds and extensions were demolished despite strong resistance from residents, including protests that temporarily halted the operation. Officials stated the drive was uniformly enforced, including properties of prominent individuals, to comply with a 2022 Punjab and Haryana High Court order. Police were deployed to maintain order, and some homeowners were granted additional time to remove encroachments voluntarily.
