West Bengal Announces Rs 1,500 Monthly Allowance for Unemployed Class 10 Pass Youth

Ahead of West Bengal's assembly elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 starting March 7 for unemployed youth aged 21 to 40 who have passed the secondary (class 10) examination. The scheme, named 'Yuva Sathi,' targets around one crore beneficiaries not receiving other government aid except scholarships. Originally planned for April, the early rollout coincides with International Women's Day. Banerjee highlighted a 40% reduction in unemployment and skill training for 40 lakh people under her government.
